Safestart - Course Content

Safestart changes the way people think when they are about to undertake an activity. Although the principles in Safestart are simple truths we all know, it takes time and effort for people to ‘rewire’ their brains, master this new way of thinking and incorporate this into their daily lives.

Safestart training and associated materials have been developed to facilitate understanding and behaviour change for participants.

Safestart training for the participant includes:-

  • Safestart Training Manual consisting of 5 units covering the basic Safestart principles. These are in a question and answer format and have been designed so that people with limited reading capability will be able to complete it.
  • Safestart Sessions – each unit has a corresponding presentation that participants attend to understand the Safestart concepts and apply the new way of thinking. Each session is around 2 hours. These sessions include stories that illustrate and demonstrate the Safestart principles at work and at home (Stories are powerful avenues for ‘lessons’ to get passed down from generation to generation - humans have been telling stories for thousands of years).
  • Taking Safestart Home and Safestart Hurt at Home DVDs – these are provided free of charge for people to apply the Safestart skills learnt in the sessions at their home to keep their families safe. We have found that people who are not willing to learn something new to keep themselves safe will learn something new to keep their children and other family members safe.
  • Access to Safestart Online course (free of charge) – so that the family members of the people that have completed the training can also take the course in their own time
